Afterwards, you top off the feast with fine Italian pastries and cookies with espresso,

 Recipe: Gamberi Aragonati

Gamberi Aragonati
Shrimp with Garlic and Toasted Bread Crumbs

Ingredients:

1 cup fresh bread crumbs, made from Italian or French bread
1/3 cup very finely chopped flat-leaf parsley
1 large garlic clove, finely chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
About 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 and 1/2 lbs large shrimp, peeled and deveined
Lemon wedges

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 450° F.

Lightly oil a large baking pan.

In a bowl, combine the bread crumbs, parsley, garlic, and salt and pepper to taste.

Add 3 tablespoons olive oil, or enough to moisten the crumbs.

Arrange the shrimp in the pan in a single layer, curling each one into a circle. Spoon a little of the crumb mixture onto each shrimp.

Drizzle with a little more olive oil.

Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the size of the shrimp, or until the shrimp turn pink and the crumbs are lightly browned. Serve with lemon wedges. Makes 6 servings.

That's it!

Scallopini di Tacchino con Insalata
Milanese Style Turkey Scallopini with Greens

Ingredients:

For the Greens:
1 tsp extra-virgin olive oil
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
1 tsp orange juice
4 cups lettuce (arugula, watercress, etc.)

For the Scallopini:
1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs
2 and 1/2 tbs grated Parmigiano cheese
3/4 tsp dried rosemary
1 large egg
2 turkey breast cutlets (about 4 oz each), pounded with a meat mallet until 1/4 inch thick
2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
1 clove garlic, peeled
Lemon wedges, thinly sliced

Directions:

For dressing, whisk olive oil, vinegar, and orange juice in a bowl. Cross a serving fork and spoon in bowl and place greens on top (so they don't touch the dressing). Cover and refrigerate; toss before serving.

In a casserole, combine breadcrumbs, Parmigiano cheese, rosemary, and salt and pepper to taste.

In a bowl, beat egg and 1 tbs water.

Dip cutlets in egg wash, then dredge through breadcrumb mixture.

Heat olive oil in a large nonstick skillet. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.

Add cutlets. Cook 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until golden.

Arrange cutlets on 2 dinner plates with dressed greens next to each. Garnish with lemon wedges. Makes 2 servings.

That's it!

 Recipe: Lenticchie Brasate

Lenticchie Brasate
Braised Lentils with Spinach

Ingredients:

2 cups brown lentils
2 small onions, diced (about 1 and 1/2 cups)
2 medium carrots, peeled and diced (about 1 cup)
1 stalk celery, trimmed and diced (about 1 and 1/2 cups)
2 bay leaves
Salt
1/2 cup chicken stock or chicken broth
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Freshly ground black pepper
4 cups finely shredded fresh spinach, thoroughly washed and drained

Directions:

Pour enough cold water over the lentils, onions, carrots, celery, and bay leaves in a 3-quart saucepan to cover by three fingers.

Season with salt and bring to a boil over high heat.

Adjust the heat so the water is at a gentle boil and cook until the lentils are tender, 20 to 25 minutes.

Drain the lentils, discard the bay leaves, and transfer to a large skillet.

Pour in the chicken stock and olive oil and season lightly with salt and pepper.

Bring to a boil and cook until the liquid is reduced enough to coat the lentils, about 3 minutes.

Scatter the spinach over the lentils and toss just until the spinach is wilted, about 1 minute.

Taste and add salt and pepper if necessary. Serve immediately. Makes 6 servings.

That's it!

Sneaky Sex Headaches Can Kill

Milan - September 30, 2008 - Illicit love affairs can lead to crippling migraines in headache sufferers and may even kill, Italian researchers warned Tuesday.

A specific type of headache can turn nasty during sneaky sex, according to Lorenzo Pinessi of the Italian Migraine Society. He said it affects about 15% of the Italian population, mostly men.

"This type of headache can be exacerbated by a series of factors like aphrodisiac food, performance-enhancing drugs, physical strain and psychological stress caused by the need to keep the relationship secret," Pinessi said.

"It can trigger extremely strong migraine attacks lasting up to three hours".

Pinessi said headache sufferers who have such experiences should talk "openly" to their doctors about them.

"In 3-4% of cases they may cause a cerebral aneurysm," he said.

The neurologist said he advised such patients to "try and cool it, take a time-out from the affair and have a brain scan".

Hey bagascia! You're giving me a headache...

Here's some news for Dottore Lorenzo. Many working Italians are more interested in cheating on their partner at lunchtime than grabbing something to eat.

It appears that lunch (between 12:30 and 2:00) accounted for one in three acts of adultery. Regardless of the location, whether in the car, office, restaurant restroom, or mule shed, it has to be over and done with quickly while everyone else is out to lunch.

Dottore, if we're constantly skipping lunch and being blackmailed into adultery, we're going to have migraine attacks.

Other possible causes of these sex headaches are:

- a bashing over the head with a dull object after being caught in an affair,
- the preposterous and complicated legal procedure to obtain a much needed divorce in Italy (cause must be proven and the process takes a minimum of three years).

The neurologist said he advised such patients to "try and cool it, take a time-out from the affair and have a brain scan". This dottore deserves to be in the "Guinness Book of World Records" for creating the most inconceivable and head splitting excuse ever to end an affair.
